Deen Publications is proud to present
The Illustrated Milky Way:
Sagittarius and Scorpius
A 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle
The Illustrated Milky Way is a
1000 piece jigsaw puzzle based on a wide field astrophoto of the
Sagittarius and Scorpius regions of the Milky Way taken by Texas
amateur astronomer Glen Deen.
Glen's stunning photo was taken at the
dark sky site of the Texas Astronomical Society of Dallas near
Atoka, OK. The camera used was a Mamiya 645 equipped with a 45mm
f/2.8 lens stopped down to f/4. The camera was mounted on a
Celestron 8 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, which was used as a
tracking platform.
Sky Atlas 2000 by Wil Tirion was used as a
reference for the illustration on this puzzle. As you assemble
puzzle, you will be able to identify 9 constellations, 170 stars, 52
open clusters, 49 globular clusters, 35 bright diffuse
nebulae, 27 planetary nebulae, 15 dark nebulae, 3 galaxies, 3
planets, and 1 meteor trail.
This popular puzzle, when finished, measures a full
20 inches by 27 inches, and should take you several of those cloudy
nights at home to complete. It also makes a great gift for the
astronomy widow in your family, or for those students on your gift
list.
